HR Officer

Location: UK National - Midlands/North

Salary: £32,000 per annum + Car Allowance

Working Hours: Monday to Friday 8am – 5pm

Role Overview

Provide professional first‑line advice to managers and employees regarding employee relations, conditions of service and the application of law and company procedures. Serve as the HR focal point for the development of HR processes and procedures to ensure compliance with current legislation and support the HR Business Partner.


What You’ll Do

* Advise on employment legislation, company personnel policies and procedures to ensure compliance, manage performance and effective employee relations.
* Provide advice to line managers and account directors on all HR issues to minimise risk exposure.
* Develop, with guidance from the HRBP, an action plan for each case.
* Support the HRBP and line managers through the stages of procedures by preparing letters and providing written and oral guidance.
* Attend hearings on behalf of the company when necessary.
* Act as facilitator and arbitrator to reach agreement in settled cases.
* Promote effective communication and change management within the business through formal announcements, newsletters and briefings.
* Advise on company policies regarding terms and conditions of employment and monitor salary scales to ensure alignment with market norms.
* Participate in corporate and company personnel strategies, policies and procedures to meet operational requirements.
* Deal effectively with employee relations matters, including trade union interface.
* Monitor and supervise the implementation of operational annual salary reviews.
* Act as an ambassador for HR initiatives.
* Act as a focal point for process changes, liaising with HR colleagues to effect improvements.
* Advise and participate in the management and implementation of TUPE policies and processes to ensure effective transfers and promote EMCOR as an employer of outsourced services.


Who You’ll Be

* Extensive experience in an HR role; FM environment preferred but not essential.
* Excellent knowledge of UK employment legislation and case law.
* CIPD Level 5 qualified.
* Knowledge of TUPE regulations and their practical application would be useful.
* Practical experience and knowledge of negotiating skills.
* Ability to work at a senior level with a view to improving business effectiveness and profitability.
* Ability to work under pressure and handle high levels of activity.
