Project Overview
The Project is the expansion of an existing process facility located on a Nuclear site in Capenhurst, Cheshire (UK). The facility will provide a major component of UK’s energy security strategy and will include FEED, design deliverables for construction contract award, and enabling works.
Job Summary
The Site Manager will manage the organisation and direction of construction and related activities on a single project. Responsibilities include day‑to‑day site operations, compliance with design specifications, contractual obligations, and direct supervision of work package contractors to deliver projects on programme and within budget. The role reports to the Construction Manager and partners with Senior Managers to establish strategic plans.
Major Responsibilities
* Act as the primary point of contact for field activities and maintain effective relationships with functional departments, sub‑contractors, and client representatives.
* Oversee jobsite expenditure within budget for labour, equipment and services, and adhere to schedules, work plans and performance requirements.
* Ensure the site remains compliant with CDM Regulations, company policies and statutory requirements, and facilitate the development and execution of constructability plans.
* Promote and enforce a positive safety culture, obtain required permits and licences, conduct site inspections, toolbox talks and implement RAMS.
* Implement environmental controls in line with the CEMP and maintain a zero‑accident philosophy.
* Maintain high‑quality standards through site inspections and quality control processes, complete ITPs, quality records and test certificates, and raise Non‑Conformance Reports where appropriate.
* Assist in monitoring costs, variations, and work package contractor performance, and ensure accurate reporting of productivity, progress and resource usage.
Education and Experience Requirements
* Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in civil engineering or related field.
* 13–15 years relevant experience, or 16–19 years relevant experience.
* CSCS (Managers or Professionally Qualified).
* SMSTS.
* First Aid at Work (desirable).
* Experience with NEC form of Contract.
* Strong understanding of civil and structural engineering principles, construction methods and materials.
* Experience in the nuclear or energy sector preferred but not essential.
* Excellent stakeholder communication, organisation and problem‑solving skills.
* Ability to influence and gain acceptance in sensitive situations without damaging relationships.
Required Knowledge and Skills
* Ability to motivate self and others and foster a collaborative delivery culture.
* Demonstrated experience supporting a positive, transparent working environment.
* Proficiency in site documentation, progress reporting and use of digital tools.
