Mid-Level Developer & Scrum Master (60/40 Split)

About the Role
Our Client is embarking on a greenfield technology initiative to build modern, scalable, secure platforms that will support its growing financial services operations. We are looking for a Mid-Level Developer with strong backend engineering experience and a solid understanding of modern containerised environments.
This role is uniquely split between 60% hands-on development and 40% Scrum Master responsibilities, supporting delivery within a small, agile engineering team.
Key Responsibilities
Development (60%)
1. Design, build, and maintain backend services using Python within a microservices architecture.
2. Develop and deploy containerised applications using Docker and Kubernetes.
3. Work with Apache Airflow to build and maintain workflow orchestration pipelines.
4. Support data engineering tasks using Apache Iceberg as part of the wider data platform.
5. Implement secure development practices aligned with DevSecOps principles.
6. Collaborate with architects and stakeholders to contribute to technical design discussions in a greenfield environment.
7. Ensure code quality through testing, code reviews, and documentation.
Scrum Master Duties (40%)
8. Facilitate daily stand-ups, sprint planning, retrospectives, and backlog refinement.
9. Serve as a bridge between product, engineering, and wider business teams to maintain clear communication and alignment.
10. Remove impediments and support continuous improvement within the team.
11. Champion agile principles and support best practices across the team.
12. Track progress, report delivery status, and help maintain a predictable sprint cadence.
Required Skills & experience
13. Strong commercial experience with Python for backend/server-side development.
14. Hands-on experience with microservices architecture.
15. Strong knowledge of Docker and Kubernetes for containerised deployments.
16. experience building or maintaining workflows using Apache Airflow.
17. Familiarity with Apache Iceberg or similar big-data table formats (, Delta Lake, Hudi).
18. Understanding of DevSecOps practices and secure coding standards.
19. Prior experience as a Scrum Master or in a hybrid technical/leadership role.
20. Comfortable working in fast-paced, greenfield environments.
21. Excellent communication skills and stakeholder management.
Nice to Have

23. Exposure to cloud-native tools (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
24. Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and automation tooling.
25. Relevant Agile/Scrum certifications.
