Social Work England is the specialist regulator for social work in England, focused on enabling positive change in social work. We are now recruiting for a HR Officer to join us and play a pivotal part in delivering our vital human resource support to our organisation. In this role you'll be the first point of contact for our people, helping us to make sure that Social Work England is a great place to work.
About The Role
* Provide guidance to managers on routine people matters according to our policies and processes.
* Support casework at informal and first‑stage levels, including attendance management, informal performance concerns, and early‑stage conduct issues.
* Support the administration of the full employee lifecycle, including changes to terms, reference checks, exit processes, and maintaining accurate HR records.
* Support the implementation of regular people activities such as annual pay awards, benefits updates and organisation‑wide communications.
* Embed good practice by supporting colleagues in using systems, processes and policies correctly.
* Ensure HR records and people systems are accurate, compliant and up to date.
* Prepare and maintain standard documentation such as contracts, letters and meeting packs.
* Compile monthly and quarterly people data for reporting purposes, identifying emerging patterns for escalation.
* Build positive and collaborative working relationships with colleagues at all levels.
About You

To be successful as our next Human Resources Officer you will need:
* A CIPD Level 3 qualification (or working towards) or equivalent HR experience in a people‑focused role.
* Experience gathering information and providing clear, practical HR advice, escalating risks or complex issues appropriately.
* Experience of applying HR policies and processes in day‑to‑day operational situations (e.g., sickness absence, recruitment, onboarding, ER processes).
* Experience of collating, analysing and interpreting HR data (e.g., absence, turnover, recruitment metrics) to support reporting and informed decision‑making.
* Confident in using Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook, and familiar with remote meeting platforms such as Teams.
* To be a great communicator and relationship builder, with clear written communication skills and the ability to work with colleagues at all levels.

Pre-Employment Checks
