As Cook, you will be responsible for the planning, preparation and cooking of meals and the supervision of the kitchen.
Responsibilities
* Plan all menus, taking into account residents’ specific dietary requirements and their individual requests and to liaise with the Home Manager to agree menus.
* Maintain sufficient stock and operate within the budget, ensuring minimum waste and efficient use of stock.
* Make your voice heard and contribute to staff meetings, putting forward suggestions and ideas for improvement.
* Familiarise yourself with the companies policies and procedures which you will be provided with at the start of your employment and during your induction period and induction training.
* Take on additional specific areas of work as required by the Executive Director of Housing, the Supported Living Manager, the Home Manager or any other senior manager as requested.
* Set, clear and clean dining room and take and collect meals to resident’s rooms,when required.
Skills and Qualifications
* NVQ Level 2 or City & Guilds in Catering & Hospitality, or an equivalent catering/kitchen related qualification Or have 2 years’ experience of working in a kitchen.
* Willingness to attain qualification Level 2 in Food & Hygiene.
* Able to verbally communicate in the English language with the client group.
* Be able to show some knowledge of the diets of older people / menu planning.
