Job Description
Role Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and proactive Facade Quality Manager to lead the assurance of façade compliance and quality across all project phases, in line with the latest UK Building Safety Act 2022 and associated regulations effective from October 2023. This role is pivotal in ensuring that façade systems meet stringent safety, performance, and regulatory standards from early design through to handover.
Key Responsibilities
1. Compliance & Quality Assurance (Build Phase)
* Lead façade inspections and quality control during construction, ensuring compliance with statutory regulations and project specifications.
* Implement and monitor façade-specific QA/QC protocols
* Maintain a robust audit trail of façade-related decisions and documentation using Aconex.
2. Consultancy During PCSA Stage
* Act as façade compliance advisor during the Pre-Construction Services Agreement (PCSA) phase.
* Collaborate with design teams, principal designers, and contractors to ensure façade systems are buildable, safe, and regulation-compliant.
* Support Gateway 1 and Gateway 2 submissions for higher-risk buildings (HRBs), ensuring fire safety and design integrity.
3. Process & Procedure Development
* Develop and continuously improve façade quality management procedures aligned with the Building Safety Regulator's requirements.
* Establish project-specific façade QA/QC plans and integrate them into broader construction quality frameworks.
4. Aconex System Integration
* Lead the integration of façade quality workflows into the existing Aconex platform, ensuring seamless document control, version tracking, and collaboration.
* Train project teams on façade-related modules within Aconex to enhance data accuracy and compliance visibility.
5. Site Manager Upskilling
* Design and deliver training programmes for Site Managers focused on façade compliance, inspection techniques, and regulatory awareness.
* Promote a culture of continuous improvement and technical excellence in façade installation and supervision.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications & Experience
* Proven experience in façade engineering, quality management, or building envelope consultancy.
* Strong understanding of UK Building Regulations, including the Building Safety Act 2022 and HRB procedures.
* Familiarity with Aconex or similar CDE platforms.
* SMSTS, CSCS, and First Aid certifications preferred.
* Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
Desirable Attributes
* Certified Construction Quality Manager (CCQM) or equivalent.
* Experience in BIM coordination and digital construction tools.
* Ability to lead cross-functional teams and drive compliance culture.
