About the Devonshire Group

The Devonshire Group comprises the Devonshire family interests, charities and businesses throughout the UK and Ireland, including Chatsworth in Derbyshire, the Bolton Abbey Estate in North Yorkshire, the Lismore Estate in County Waterford, and the Compton Estate in Sussex.

Across our estates and businesses, we operate visitor attractions, shops, restaurants and luxury accommodation, alongside tenanted residential and commercial property, farming and forestry enterprises, and the significant property development pipeline. We employ around 1,400 colleagues across more than 65,000 acres.

We are committed to benefitting heritage, people and a shared future, preserving and enhancing our heritage assets, supporting our communities, and leading by example in how we do things.

About the role

This is a newly created role with real scope to set the pace and shape the future of how the Devonshire Group uses data. As our Data Architect, you’ll define the Group’s data strategy and design the architecture that brings our information together: building the data warehouse, creating robust integrations, and delivering reporting that turns day‑to‑day operational data into trusted insight. You’ll work across the business to bring IT’s four pillars to life by embedding secure and well‑governed data access, and unlocking digital value through smarter, faster decision‑making.

What you’ll be doing

* Design, develop and maintain the Group’s data warehouse, ensuring data is accurate, structured, secure and optimised for reporting and analysis
* Lead the design of data integrations from operational systems into the warehouse, defining data flows, structures and transformation logic
* Manage the Group’s business intelligence front end (Power BI), including data models, datasets and dashboards
* Partner with stakeholders across the Group to understand reporting and insight needs, translating these into data models, measures and reporting structures
* Work closely with the Solutions Architect & Delivery Lead to ensure new applications and integrations are designed with data quality, structure and reporting needs in mind
* Collaborate with the Security Architect & Infrastructure Lead to ensure data storage, access roles and integration methods meet security, compliance and performance standards
* Produce technical documentation including data dictionaries, schemas, integration specifications and warehouse architecture diagrams
* Support colleagues across the Group to adopt data-driven approaches and use Power BI and other modern analytics tools effectively
* Identify opportunities to streamline and simplify reporting, remove duplication and improve access to high-quality management information

About you

You’ll bring strong technical expertise in data warehousing, modelling and business intelligence, along with the ability to translate business questions into clear, trusted and usable information. You’ll be comfortable working across technical and non-technical teams, taking a pragmatic approach and paying close attention to data quality, security and governance. You’ll be collaborative and service-focused, with strong analytical problem-solving skills and the organisational ability to manage competing priorities across a multi-site Group.

Qualifications

* Strong knowledge of data modelling, data warehousing and ETL/ELT principles, with hands‑on experience building and maintaining centralised reporting environments
* Proficiency with Power BI, including building data models, datasets and dashboards
* Experience designing and implementing data integrations from operational systems (e.g., via APIs, file transfers or other integration methods)
* Ability to translate reporting needs into clear data structures, measures and user-friendly dashboards
* Understanding of data governance, data quality management and documentation best practice
* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to diagnose data issues and improve data accuracy
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills, able to engage effectively with colleagues at all levels of digital capability
* Experience managing, mentoring or supervising colleagues, supporting performance, development and wellbeing in line with agreed objectives
* Relevant certifications/training in data modelling, BI or analytics, and a degree (or equivalent experience) in a data, computing or analytical discipline

In return

You’ll join a supportive and friendly IT team within a values-led organisation that genuinely cares about its people. You’ll play a key role in helping the IT function operate effectively and professionally across a diverse, multi-site organisation. We offer a range of benefits including a wellbeing calendar of events, an onsite gym and swimming pool, and an Estate Pass providing free access to Chatsworth for you and your guests, plus discounts across Devonshire Group hotels, shops and restaurants. Details of our employee benefits can be found here: https://devonshiregroup.co.uk/work-with-us/working-at-the-devonshire-group/

Additional Information

Our core values include “Being Inclusive” and we particularly welcome applications from disabled and Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic (BAME) candidates who are currently under-represented. We also welcome applicants from the LGBTQ+ community. Flexible ways of working will always be considered.
