We are looking to expand our team and we areseeking an excellent Teacher of Food Technology for the newacademic year. We are looking for someone who wants to celebrate arange of different and representative stories from within theircurriculum. We are looking for an individual who is open to newideas willing to experiment and who sees teaching as a reflectiveand ongoing discipline. This position will also encompass someDesign Technology teaching.
At Bohunt Horsham theemphasis for students is placed on them learning words that theycan use to talk write and debate the big questions of the world.The successful candidate therefore will be somebody who sees thepotential of a curriculum as a narrative and the development oflanguage for the curriculum asessential.
Tasks
* Advisingand cooperating with the Headteacher Head of Faculty andotherteachers on the preparation and development of courses ofstudy teaching materials teaching programmes methods of teachingand assessment and pastoral arrangements
* takingany such part as may be required in the review development andmanagement of activities relating to the curriculum organisationand pastoral functions of theschool
* Coordinating or managing the work ofother staff
* To implement and deliver anappropriately broad balanced relevant and differentiated curriculumfor students and to support the curriculum areas asappropriate
* To monitor and support the overallprogress and development of students as a teacher/formtutor
* To facilitate and encourage a learningexperience which provides students with the opportunity to achievetheir individual potential
* To contribute toraising standards of student attainment andachievement
* To share and support the schoolsresponsibility to provide and monitor opportunities for thepersonal and academic development of children and youngpeople
* Planning wellstructuredlessons
* Taking responsibility for ownprofessional development and ensuring best practice in classroomteaching and learning
* Providing extracurricularopportunities that are an essential part of subject provision suchas drama and musical productions and PEfixtures
* Keeping subject knowledge up todate
* Contributing to the development of schemesof work and department resources
* Contributingto preparing for changes to pedagogy and curriculumexpectations
* Contributing to the implementationof new courses within the subjectarea
* Attending department/faculty and year teammeetings as part of directed time
* Contributingfully to the extracurricular programme within thedepartment
* Demonstrate excellent practice inteaching
* Carrying out teaching duties inaccordance with the schools schemes of work and NationalCurriculum
* Liaising with colleagues to developand deliver programmes ofstudy in a collaborativeway
* Working with LSAs teaching assistants andthe SENDCo set targets for student attainment levels based oneffective use of data that incorporate suitablechallenge.
* Setting work for students absentfrom school
* Marking and returning work withinagreed time span providing feedback andtargets
* Setting learning and achievementtargets and monitoring progres stowards those targets includingkeeping accurate records of progress.
* Annuallyreviewing the attainment outcomes of students taught and assessingand quantifying impact on students learning of ownteaching.
* Writing reports for students as partof the school review cycle
* Liaising withparents and attend consultationevenings
* Working within the Code of Practicerelating to Special Educational Needs Standards and qualityassurance
* Supporting the aims and ethos of theschool as identified in the SEF School Development Plan and schoolhandbook
* Ensuring awareness of nationaldevelopments relevant to subject and current bestpractice
* Undertaking performancemanagement
* Promoting and modelling goodrelationships with pupils colleaguesandparents
* Setting a good example in terms ofdress punctuality and attendance
