People & Payroll Administrator
Location: Liverpool (minimum 3 days per week in office)

About the role
This is a 50/50 People Administration and Payroll role, perfect for someone who enjoys variety and takes pride in accuracy and great service.
You'll be the go‑to expert for payroll and people processes, supporting the full employee lifecycle while ensuring monthly payrolls are processed accurately and on time. If you're experienced in payroll, confident with Excel, and enjoy working in a fast‑paced, people‑focused environment, this role offers real breadth and ownership.
Key responsibilities
Payroll (50%)
Accurately process monthly payrolls to agreed deadlines
Produce payroll journals and reports
Submit personal data and payment uploads within agreed timescales
Complete monthly third‑party payment requests via Finance
Maintain accurate and secure payroll records, including pay, absences, and salary changes
Support the annual Gender Pay Gap reporting process
People Administration (50%)
Administer the full employee lifecycle: starters, leavers, contracts, benefits, absence and holidays
Manage onboarding, contractual amendments, flexible working requests, and disciplinary/grievance documentation
Act as first point of contact for the Sage HR system
Maintain accurate management hierarchy and employee data to support MI reporting for Finance, IT and Information Security
Support the wider People team with accurate data for performance management, pay and reward processes
About you
Proven experience working within a payroll function (essential)
HR or People Administration experience (desirable)
Intermediate to advanced Excel skills (essential)
Experience using payroll systems (essential); Brain Payroll experience desirable
Strong attention to detail with the ability to meet tight deadlines
Self‑starter with a proactive, can‑do mindset
Relevant payroll qualification, or willingness to work towards one
Basic employment law knowledge (desirable)
Confident delivering professional, high‑quality internal client service
