We are seeking a sessional contact supervisor to facilitate contact between children and their non-resident parent (s). Following Whispers Contact Centre is a safe, friendly and neutral place where children can spend time with one or both parents, and sometimes other family members. We are an accredited member of National Association of Child Contact Centres, and hold their Enhanced Level Accreditation status.
We provide a child-centred environment where safeguarding is paramount and that puts the needs of the children first. The most important people at our Contact Centre are the children. We aim to create a warm, sociable atmosphere where children can relax and enjoy being with their family members.
Ideal candidates will have experience of working with children and families, have an excellent standard of written English and a minimum of NVQ Level 3 or equivalent qualification in a relevant area such as Health and Social Care, or Education. The role requires availability during the week and working hours across the weekend.
Contact is demand and supply and the supervisor role is a zero hour contract and as such the centre cannot guarantee the employee any set hours of work per week. However, based on the current demand for our services, we anticipate we will require someone who can offer an average of 12-15 hours of work per week, but more hours may be available. Some weekend working will be required. The role requires an enhanced DBS check. This role may suit a semi retired / retired individual or a part-time worker with experience of working in social work or education, with children and families and an understanding of safeguarding, looking for an additional paid role.
Duties:
To ensure that children are kept safe and their emotional well being is safeguarded during contact with family members;
To promote positive relationships between a child and their non-resident family members;
To recognise and report harmful or abusive behaviour.
To comply with procedures for promoting the safeguarding, welfare and safety of children and vulnerable adults, undertaking risk assessment.
To assess the quality of parenting observed during the supervised contact, and use this evidence to complete reports as required.
To provide concise, relevant and accurate recordings of contact sessions.
