Commercial law firm in Newcastle is looking to recruit an Employment lawyer of 3 or more years’ PQE. The team works for a range of market leading clients across the financial services, healthcare and commercial sectors and has a strong reputation in the North-East market, acting for a stable of significant household name corporates as well as being a market leader in the public and independent health sectors. This role will, at least initially, include working with the team supporting a major national retailer in its defence of high-profile multiple equal pay claims. Key Responsibilities of the role will include: • Undertaking a busy and varied workload of employment matters advising all types of employers, with an emphasis on our financial services sector clients • Working on complex discrimination, whistleblowing and breach of contract litigation (Employment Tribunal and High Court) under appropriate supervision • Assisting on non-contentious projects including restructures (redundancy and TUPE) in the UK and across multiple jurisdictions • General employment advisory work by telephone and email. The successful candidate will also an active role in supervising the work of and assisting in the development of trainees and paralegals. You will also take part in and initiate marketing, networking and other business development activities in order to maintain and develop work from existing clients and potential clients. This includes assisting with client seminars and delivering training. Applicants must have experience of working on tribunal claims and other contentious matters. You will also be an independent thinker with a focus on generating commercial solutions to problems on behalf of clients.
