Why Join Stable Futures?
Set on the boarder of rural West Berkshire/ Hampshire, Stable Futures offers a therapeutic, nature-based and animal-assisted learning environment for children and young people unable to access mainstream education. Our learners face a variety of social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) challenges, and we're here to provide hope, structure, and opportunity.
You'll work in small groups (max 4:1 ratio), supporting each child through a bespoke, hands-on curriculum that blends:
* Equine-assisted learning
* Small animal care
* Forest school activities
* Horticulture, bushcraft, art, and creative life skills
* PSHE and SEMH education
* Alternative curriculum sessions including careers, modern Britain, and well-being
Your Role as Learning Mentor
As a Learning Mentor, you will:
* Build strong, therapeutic relationships with young people as a consistent, compassionate adult figure
* Deliver tailored, engaging sessions across our alternative curriculum
* Support emotional development and resilience
* Role-model healthy boundaries and positive behaviour
* Contribute to a nurturing, creative, and trauma-informed educational environment
* Collaborate closely with our wider multidisciplinary team
What We’re Looking For
We want to hear from you if you are:
* Experienced in working with children and young people with SEMH or SEN needs
* Calm, creative, adaptable and confident in the outdoors
* Passionate about holistic, child-led education
* Able to plan and deliver engaging and meaningful activities (including PSHE/SEMH themes)
* Comfortable around animals and outdoor work
* A great communicator with a good sense of humour and professional resilience
Teaching qualifications (QTS, QTLS, or equivalent) are desirable but not essential if you have significant experience and a creative approach to alternative education.
