Graduate Learning Mentor – Hartlepool Secondary Schools
Are you a recent graduate looking to gain valuable school-based experience before pursuing a career in teaching or another area within education?
Do you have a passion for working with young people and supporting their learning and development?
Milk Education is currently working with several secondary schools in Hartlepool, looking to appoint enthusiastic and committed Graduate Learning Mentors for the academic year (September 2025 – July 2026). Roles are available on both a full-time and part-time basis.
The Role – Graduate Learning Mentor:
As a Graduate Learning Mentor, you will play a vital role in supporting students both academically and pastorally. You will work closely with pupils on a one-to-one basis, in small groups, and within classroom environments, helping them to overcome challenges and achieve their full potential.
This role is ideal for graduates considering a future in teaching, educational psychology, youth work, or any career supporting young people.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Deliver focused intervention and mentoring sessions to students across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4.
2. Support classroom teachers with lesson delivery, behaviour management, and learning activities.
3. Provide tailored academic and emotional support to pupils who may be at risk of underachievement.
4. Develop positive relationships with students to help build their confidence and motivation.
5. Monitor and report on student progress and engagement.
6. Gain experience in leading small group work or cover lessons under teacher guidance.

Candidate Requirements:
15. A university degree (2:2 or above) in a relevant subject area.
16. A clear interest in working with secondary-aged pupils.
17. Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
18. Some experience working with young people (voluntary or paid) is desirable but not essential.
19. Able to provide two references from the past two years.
20. Willing to complete any necessary training or CPD offered by Milk Education or the placement school.
