Overview
Based inside one of our thriving community centres we are looking for a cook, to provide an upbeat, warm and friendly service. Using fresh ingredients, design a seasonal menu with assistance from the Centre Manager.
Responsibilities
* Provide an upbeat, warm and friendly service to visitors.
* Design a seasonal menu using fresh ingredients, with assistance from the Centre Manager.
* Prepare short order snacks and a daily wholesome selection of hot meals and puddings.
* Prepare meals for special events and, where required, small buffets or sandwiches for hirers.
* Maintain a high standard of cleanliness and hygiene in the kitchen and ensure equipment is kept clean.
* Keep the Safer Foods Better Business Management records up to date in our kitchens.
* Work with a dedicated team of volunteers who may help in the kitchen under your supervision and/or assist with serving meals.
* Prepare budgets, order stock, rotate stock, and plan weekly menus and menus for special events; be imaginative and creative in this work.
* Share ideas and inspirations for providing a safe, warm centre where all visitors, including vulnerable people, have a positive social experience.
Qualifications and Experience
* Experience as a cook, ideally with a background in working in a commercial kitchen.
* Food hygiene level 2 qualifications or above.
* Ability to maintain cleanliness and hygiene standards in a busy kitchen.
* Ability to supervise volunteers and work collaboratively with a team.
