Hours: Full time, 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday.

Pay: £16.65 per hour
The Role
Manpower is recruiting on behalf of our public sector client for an experienced Retail Catering Manager to lead the launch and day to day operation of a brand new hospital retail catering unit, due to open within the next four weeks.
This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in establishing a modern retail catering service from the very beginning. Working as part of the Retail Services Management Team, you will be instrumental in overseeing the opening of the unit, supporting the final preparations, recruiting and developing the team, implementing operational procedures and ensuring a successful launch.
Following the opening, you will take responsibility for the day to day management of this busy catering outlet, providing food and beverages to staff, patients and visitors while maintaining the highest standards of food safety, customer service and operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and oversee the successful opening of the new hospital retail catering unit, ensuring the service is fully operational and ready for launchOversee the day to day operation of the retail catering unit, ensuring a high quality, efficient service for staff, patients and visitorsManage, support and develop supervisory and frontline catering staff, creating a positive and high performing teamPlan and coordinate service delivery, including menus, product offerings and dietary requirements in line with healthcare standardsMonitor service performance, analyse operational data and produce KPI reportsEnsure full compliance with food safety, health and safety, infection prevention and all relevant legislative requirementsManage budgets, control costs and support income generation while maintaining excellent value and service standardsHandle customer feedback, service issues and complaints in a professional and timely mannerPromote healthier eating initiatives and support Public Health objectives through the retail catering offerSupport recruitment, induction, training and performance management processes, particularly during the mobilisation and opening phaseMaintain accurate workforce records, including rotas, absence management and payroll informationContribute to continuous service improvement, audits and quality initiatives to enhance customer experience and operational performanceLiaise with internal departments, customers and suppliers to ensure the smooth and effective delivery of the catering serviceProvide operational cover and management support across wider catering and commercial services when required
About You
Previous experience managing a busy retail catering, café, canteen or hospitality operationExperience opening, mobilising or launching a new catering operation would be highly advantageousStrong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and develop a diverse teamExperience working within high volume food service environmentsA valid Food Safety Level 3 Certificate is essentialGood understanding of food hygiene, health and safety and infection prevention proceduresExperience managing budgets, stock control and financial performanceExcellent organisational and communication skillsAble to work under pressure and make effective decisions in a fast paced environmentConfident using IT systems for reporting, rotas and operational administration
