We are seeking an outgoing, positive and passionate Learning Mentor to provide social, emotional and mental health support to students. The successful candidate will need to hold a mentoring qualification and have experience of supporting students within this role. A knowledge of support strategies and mentoring programmes is vital, and the successful candidate needs an understanding of the importance of developing positive relationships in school. As a Learning Mentor you will be expected to have a caseload of students whom you will support and be able to evaluate the impact of the support, adapting practice as appropriate. You will need to be able to work flexibly and creatively in a variety of ways to support students to overcome their barriers to learning. It is essential that the successful candidate has good literacy and numeracy skills and excellent organisational skills being able to work both independently and as part of a wider team. Start date: To be agreed with successful candidate Responsibilities: To provide learning support to students as directed by the Deputy Head responsible for Social and Education Inclusion, raise attainment, aspirations, attendance and achievement and to work towards reaching school targets, including through supporting students accessing the school's Nurture Room. To identify and help overcome barriers to individual learning both within and outside school. To develop social skills and emotional development, through the development of strategies and mentoring programmes. To provide one to one mentoring sessions for identified students, setting appropriate targets and evaluating practice and progress. To oversee and manage casework for the team in Key Stages 3, 4 and 5 evaluating progress of case work and report to the Deputy Head. To share best practice with the team through mentoring skills. To liaise with outside agencies, where appropriate. To arrange mediation of work between school, home, students, and other agencies including school nurse, social services, education welfare officer etc. To undertake home visits where necessary. To run intervention strategies for individuals/groups of students. To attend relevant training and events. To maintain high standards of ethics and behaviour and to uphold the Nolan Principles. To have responsibility for promoting and safeguarding the welfare of children and to ensure that the Academy's Child Protection and Safeguarding Policy along with e-Safety Policies are adhered to. To adhere to the Code of Conduct which is provided annually. All employees are expected to work within the confines of the Data Protection Act and to take appropriate measures to ensure the security and confidentiality of data.
