The Role of a Senior Learning Mentor:
As a senior learning mentor, you will provide pastoral support for pupils and assist with their learning. You will work with students with additional needs and barriers to learning. Responsibilities include understanding pupils' needs, engaging parents and guardians, conducting home visits, and delivering initial work packs for students unable to attend school. A proactive and empathetic approach is essential.
The School:
This provision caters to pupils aged 11-16 who are permanently excluded or cannot access mainstream schooling. Pupils are referred by schools, academies, or the local authority. The curriculum includes Maths, English, Science, along with therapeutic interventions, cooking, sports, outdoor education, and PSHE.
Day-to-Day Responsibilities:
* Manage and deliver pastoral and SEND support to pupils
* Deliver whole group sessions across several subjects
* Conduct intervention sessions
* Supervise pupils displaying challenging behaviour and support their mental health needs
* Attend to pupils’ personal needs and provide advice to support their social, health, and hygiene development
* Assist teachers with developing and implementing individual behaviour plans
