Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and passionate individual to join our team as a nursery cook. In this role, you will play a vital part in our delivery of healthy meals to our 3 and 4 year old children, ensuring the preparation and presentation of high-quality meals that meet our food safety standards and the nutrition guidance for the early years foundation stage.
The hours cover the lunch time period, 3 hours per day, 10.30 till 1.30, Monday to Friday, term time only.
Responsibilities
* Prepare and cook a variety of simple dishes according to established recipes and menu specifications.
* Assist in meal preparation, ensuring all ingredients are fresh and properly stored.
* Manage a variety of special instructions to keep children with allergies and intolerances safe at all times. Avoiding any cross contamination.
* Maintain a clean and organised kitchen environment, adhering to food safety regulations.
* Collaborate with nursery staff to ensure timely service and efficient serving of meals.
* Monitor food quality and presentation before serving to ensure it meets our standards.
* Participate in inventory management.
* Maintain our consistent 5 star food hygiene rating.
Requirements
* Proven experience in a kitchen environment.
* A full enhanced DBS check will be obtained before work may commence.
* Strong culinary skills with knowledge of food preparation techniques and cooking methods.
* Familiarity with food safety & hygiene practices and regulations is essential.
* Ability to work efficiently under pressure while maintaining attention to detail.
* Excellent teamwork skills with the ability to communicate effectively with colleagues.
* A passion for cooking and creating delicious meals that contribute to the healthy development of pre-school children.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: £12.21 per hour
Expected hours: 15 per week
