About the job
An important part of the leadership team at Storal, the Head of People is responsible for shaping and executing our holistic approach to people management, encompassing people operations, employee relations, people engagement, people analytics, and talent attraction.
The primary focuses of the role will be to develop the strategies for retention and talent attraction; leading and building a high-performing People and Talent team; develop and executing People policies and procedures and building a scalable People and Talent function to support the business through upcoming growth.
You'll be supported by a Talent Manager, Associate People Partners, Associate Talent Partners and administrative team. As part of your role you will work closely with the Head of Education who owns the learning and development strategy, in addition to the other Heads of Department and the Executive team. Through your role, you will need to inspire teams, set clear expectations, and work collaboratively with other stakeholders to drive forward the organisation’s vision.
Main Responsibilities
1. Ensuring a culture of excellence, high standards and continuous improvement within the People function and across the company, embodying our behaviours and values;
2. Lead the development and implementation of our people engagement/retention and talent attraction strategies
3. Lead on the management of regulatory people risk including but not limited to NMW legislation, statutory leaver, safer recruitment and effective employee relations case management
4. Lead on the development and regular review of all HR specific nursery policies and procedures.
5. Working in partnership with the other Heads of Department to ensure the corporate goals are executed through a collaborative and cohesive approach
6. Develop a highly motivated, skilled and engaged people and talent team through strong leadership
7. Develop a robust set of people analytics metrics and drive data informed decision making through the people function and through nursery operations with a focus on improving team retention and reducing team sickness
8. Own the company approach to reward and recognition
9. Innovate and use automation and technology to develop a scalable and efficient people function
10. Support the integration of new acquisitions and the launch of brownfield/greenfield nurseries
11. Work with the Head of Education and the Learning & Development
12. Manager to support the company learning and development
About you:
13. An experienced Head of People (HR generalist background)
14. Strong theoretical and practical knowledge of employment law
15. A CIPD qualification – level 5 or above
16. Experience developing and successfully implementing a talent engagement/retention strategy
17. Experience within a regulated sector where the workforce possesses some similar qualities/challenges to the early years workforce
18. Experience within a multi-site business
19. Experience in employee relations case management
20. Experience in managing TUPE
21. Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, will be an engaging and inspiring presenter
22. Strong understanding of people analytics, analytical and able to analyse trends to drive improvements
23. Strong understanding of people process mapping
24. Experience of change management
25. Have strong interpersonal skills and a natural capability to develop and maintain meaningful cross-functional relationships
26. Experience of maximising the benefit from a HRIS
