Site Manager – Heavy Civils (Water & MEICA Experience Preferred) Location: Merseyside Employment Type: Permanent or Freelance Salary: Competitive, based on experience benefits package About the Role We are seeking an experienced Site Manager to lead the delivery of major civil engineering works in the Merseyside region. This role is ideally suited to someone with a strong background in heavy civils, experience in the water sector, and a solid understanding of MEICA interfaces. If you've got hands-on experience with shaft sinking, this is very much your lane. You’ll be managing complex site activities, coordinating with multiple stakeholders, and ensuring safety, programme, and quality standards are met to the highest level. Key Responsibilities Take full responsibility for managing site operations on heavy civil engineering works. Oversee and manage shaft sinking operations, ensuring safety and technical precision. Coordinate with MEICA teams and subcontractors on water-related projects including treatment works, pipelines, and pumping stations. Ensure all work complies with company standards, project specifications, and relevant water framework protocols. Lead the site team, delivering daily briefings, managing labour, and monitoring progress against programme. Implement and enforce all health, safety, environmental, and quality procedures. Manage site documentation including RAMS, permits, inspections, and progress reporting. Liaise with clients, engineers, and internal teams to ensure smooth delivery.Essential Requirements Proven experience as a Site Manager in heavy civils with an emphasis on shaft sinking. Knowledge and/or experience in MEICA integration and the water industry. Previous involvement in delivering works under major water frameworks (e.g., AMP). Valid SMSTS certification. Valid CSCS card (Site Manager level). Strong leadership and team management skills. Ability to work under pressure and deliver results to tight deadlines.Preferred (but not essential) Temporary Works, Confined Space, or Lifting Operations qualifications. Experience with Tier 1 contractors or collaborative frameworks.
