Description Overview Wincanton are excited to launch a new opportunity for an experienced HR Manager to join the team at our Primark contract. The role will be based at our Thrapston and Islip sites, with requirement to be on-site five days a week. In the thick of the daily operation, this role brings an opportunity to make a difference to both colleagues and the customer. Reporting to the People Partner, you will provide a professional service covering all aspects of employee relations and the employee lifecycle having responsibility to drive the people agenda forward for the site and contract. The role has a generalist HR focus, but also provides the opportunity for someone to be actively involved in proactive talent management and development, organisation change, resource management, and HR improvement activities. The role will also include support a culture of continuous improvement to ensure that all contract objectives are achieved and maintained through the performance of people. How will you contribute? Take responsibility for providing advice and high-quality generalist HR support across the contract to stakeholders Develop effective on-going relationships at all levels establishing yourself as a credible, respected and valued manager, responding to queries directly and influencing managers to follow a best practice approach. Assist departmental managers on the interpretation of company policies and procedures as well as local agreements. Prepare statistical breakdowns including analysis of sickness/absence and holidays. Assists in disciplinary / grievance hearings, advising on legislative and company policy and procedures. Assist in training and developing managers in people related matters, ensuring processes are followed and legislation is met. Contribute towards the improvement of processes and methods of operating practices within the contract. Assist in the coaching, mentoring and development of the management team through leadership of any training delivery and general upskilling. Assist with annual pay review/pay claims. Support recruitment activity ensuring compliance to internal policies and selection of the most suitable candidates, including interviewing and onboarding. Lead engagement activity for all sites, including survey action planning and regular listening groups. Work together with local workforce representatives to maintain a positive and constructive working relationship, implementing an employee relations climate of excellence to support the site’s ongoing cultural development Also responsible for several small UK outbases (infrequent travel required) What will you bring? Strong generalist People / HR background with a track record of delivering as a People (HR) Manager, ideally gained in a fast paced, logistics or manufacturing environment. Skilled in providing pragmatic, tailored HR advice. Experience of supporting managers with complex employee relations issues. CIPD Level 5 qualified or desire to work towards. Good working knowledge of employment law and experience dealing with volume and complex ER issues Results focused with a demonstrated ability to handle multiple priorities with solid time management and organisational skills Experience of working within a unionised environment Excellent IT skills in Word, Excel and PowerPoint are a prerequisite. Passionate about developing and supporting colleagues to fulfill their potential. Strong communication skills and a natural ability to build relationships quickly.
