The Production Quality Manager is responsible for planning, managing, and driving quality requirements across all vehicle programmes and production sites. They will ensure quality is built into every stage of the product lifecycle, from concept through to delivery, while leading non-conformance management, audits, and problem resolution. The role also includes leading and developing the Production Quality team, embedding best practice processes, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement to deliver the highest standards of product quality.

Key Responsibilities


* Act as the Quality lead for all vehicle programmes, working directly with other business functions including operations, programmes, engineering and procurement to ensure that Production & Programme meets quality, timing, and cost objectives.
* Ensure production quality requirements are identified and embedded throughout the product lifecycle, from concept to delivery, through planning and support of all NPI programmes from the earliest stages through to start of production.
* Have full accountability for the management of non-conformance processes, working closely with operations and supplier quality teams to ensure seamless management of non-conformance within the business.
* Lead analysis & management of customer complaints within the Quality function. Driving containment actions, root cause, corrective action and verification to ensure no repeat issues.
* Ensure timely and effective operation of Inspection and Quarantine processes across the business, capturing and reporting the cost of non-conformance and providing a mechanism for cost recovery where possible.
* Optimisation of Vehicle Quality audit and shakedown activities, ensuring that the processes are fully effective, outcomes clearly communicated, and quality performance improvement is driven by the results.
* Uplift structured problem resolution within the business, ensuring application of the appropriate tools for the level of problem. Examples processes could include quality alerts, 3C, 8D, etc.
* Work with the production team to drive a ‘build in quality’ behaviour and a focus on delivering quality right first time.
* Plan and provide training to others in all aspects of the quality and problem resolution processes.
* Contribute to the creation and implementation of best practice quality vision, strategy, policies, processes and procedures to aid and improve operational performance.
* Implement and ensure compliance to all relevant procedures described in the GMA Business Management System (BMS).
* Support internal and external body audit requirements as required.
* Maintain Quality KPI’s and report quality performance against agreed quality metrics in line with business requirements.

Managerial/Team Leader Responsibilities

* Leadership and development of a high-performing Production Quality team, fostering a culture of ownership, ensuring skills and competency required by the team and the business are developed and maintained.
* Establish strong team member relations, and provide support for people development, coaching and mentoring.
* Managing the day-to-day activities of the team and delegate workloads fairly.
* Set, support and motivate team members to achieve company, departmental and personal objectives via the company PDP process.
* Support recruitment, resource planning, and succession management for the department.
* Champion the use of best practice quality tools, training, and standard work across the department.
* Communicate quality goals, expectations, and changes clearly and effectively to the team and wider business.
* Drive continuous improvement initiatives across quality systems, processes, and supplier engagement.
* Manage conflict, resolve incidents, and solve problems.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

* Degree qualified in Engineering, Quality, or related discipline.
* Extensive experience in production quality management, ideally in an automotive setting or similar complex engineering or manufacturing environment.
* Proven track record in driving quality improvements and resolution of problems
* Strong working knowledge of quality tools and methodologies (e.g. FMEA, MSA, SPC, 8D, Ishikawa, 6 Sigma, etc.).
* Significant experience leading quality in a highly dynamic and challenging environment.
* Demonstrable ability to influence senior leaders and cross-functional stakeholders.
* Strong leadership and people management skills, with the ability to build trust and accountability.
* Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills with internal teams and external interested parties.
* Organised, persuasive, resourceful, flexible, ambitious, self-directing, passion for delivering objectives, comfortable challenging existing processes.
* Must be a team player.
