It’s fun to work at The Y!
We are looking for a Catering Manager to take the reins in our camp kitchen! This is a sole charge role where the main focus will be preparing meals for our school groups – catering to dietary requirements, helping us to ensure that all of our guests have an amazing camp experience!
What will you be doing?
1. Prepare and submit menus and accompanying budget no later than 2 weeks ahead of booking date to the Centre Manager for approval
2. Preparing meals for campers based on a pre-planned menu and schedule
3. Discussing catering needs with organsiers to plan out their meals prior to attending camp.
4. Catering to dietary requirements e.g. gluten free, dairy free, vegan
5. Maintaining a clean & tidy kitchen and help to clean the camp
6. Stocktake, maintaining stock levels, coordinate the purchase of all food items and kitchen supplies (to approved budget)
7. Ensuring a food control plan in maintained
8. Co-ordinating with others to ensure customer & kitchen needs are met. While this is a sole charge role, our instructional team are around at meal times to lend a hand during the school holidays, as well as parents and teachers during the term camps.
What experience/skills do you need?
9. Confident in cooking simple healthy meals
10. Knowledge of special dietary requirements for example allergies and intolerances
11. Excellent communication skills & a positive can-do attitude
12. The ability to roll up their sleeves and help keep the work space and camp clean & tidy
13. Physically active, happy to be on their feet all day & lift/move stock around
14. A Current Food Hygiene Certificate would be advantageous
15. The ability to stay ahead of tasks by being organised and being prepared
16. A basic understanding of technology such as emails, excel and catering websites is advantageous
