Freelance Site Manager – Timber Frame Housing Project (12-Month Contract)

Rate: £280- £300 a day
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Site Manager to lead the delivery of a new timber frame housing development. This is a 12-month freelance contract managing the project from groundwork through to handover. You’ll be responsible for day-to-day site operations, health and safety compliance, subcontractor coordination, and ensuring programme and quality targets are achieved.
Key Responsibilities
Manage all on-site construction activities for a timber frame housing scheme
Coordinate trades, subcontractors, and site staff to maintain progress and standards
Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations
Oversee quality control and ensure adherence to design specifications
Liaise with project managers, architects, and clients to provide progress updates
Manage site documentation, permits, and reporting requirements
Drive the project to meet key milestones and handover deadlines
Requirements
Proven experience as a Site Manager on residential or timber frame housing projects
Strong understanding of timber frame construction methods
Valid SMSTS, CSCS, and First Aid certifications
Excellent organisational and leadership skills
Ability to manage subcontractors and maintain a high standard of workmanship
Strong communication and problem-solving abilities
