Your role and responsibilities We are seeking a Managing Application Developer to support IBM's Public Sector and Defence projects by leading cloud development initiatives. In this role, you will oversee the design, development, and maintenance of cloud-based applications while mentoring junior and mid-level developers. You will manage the full software development lifecycle, with a strong focus on designing, coding, testing, and deploying cloud-native solutions using modern full-stack technologies. Responsibilities - System Design: Architect, develop, and maintain secure, scalable cloud applications using full-stack technologies, aligned with the needs of IBM's Public Sector and Defence clients. - Team Leadership: Lead and mentor junior and mid-level developers, promoting a culture of innovation, quality, and technical excellence. - Problem-Solving: Oversee the resolution of complex technical challenges, applying deep expertise in full-stack cloud development to mission-critical environments. - Continuous Improvement: Enhance development practices and processes, ensuring they meet industry standards and IBM delivery expectations. - Technical Vision: Influence and shape the technical direction of cloud application development within the Public Sector and Defence portfolio. - Project Leadership: Lead smaller projects end-to-end, from architecture and design through deployment, demonstrating strong technical and project leadership. - Mentorship: Support the growth of Junior Developers through ongoing coaching and knowledge sharing. Required technical and professional expertise * Technical Proficiency: Demonstrated mastery in full-stack development, including both front-end (HTML, CSS, JavaScript) and back-end (e.g., Node.js, Python, Ruby) technologies. * Cloud Expertise: Extensive experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud) and services. * Leadership: Proven leadership qualities, with a track record of managing teams and delivering projects. * Problem-Solving: Exceptional problem-solving capabilities, with a history of effectively addressing and resolving complex engineering issues. * Communication: Exemplary verbal and written communication skills to engage with team members, stakeholders, and upper management This role is subject to pre-employment screening in line with the UK Government's Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS).
