The Role
As our Part-Time Cook, you will be the heart of our community. You will prepare fresh, home-cooked meals for approximately 10–15 owners. This role requires a blend of culinary skill and genuine empathy, ensuring our residents feel supported, respected, and at home.
Key Responsibilities
* Meal Preparation: Cook nutritious, balanced meals from scratch, tailored to the preferences and dietary needs of older adults.
* Resident Engagement: Interact warmly with residents, seeking feedback on menus and ensuring a supportive dining environment.
* Kitchen Management: Maintain high standards of food safety (HACCP) and hygiene, ensuring the kitchen is kept as clean as a family home.
* Stock Control: Manage food ordering and stock rotation while minimising waste within the budget.
* Wellbeing Support: Act as a friendly point of contact for residents and, in rare emergencies, remain calm and follow safety protocols.
Requirements
* Experience: Proven experience in professional cooking; experience in healthcare or a similar care setting is highly desirable.
* Empathy: A patient, compassionate approach and a genuine enjoyments of the company of older people.
* Certification: An up-to-date Level 2 Food Hygiene Certificate (training can be provided for the right candidate).
* Compliance: This role is subject to an Enhanced DBS check as you will be working with vulnerable adults.
