Job Description:
We are working closely alongside with a local authority in Waltham Forest to assist with the appointment of a Cook on a 2.5-months contract, highly likely to be extended at clients discretion. Please apply with your CV for immediate consideration.
Rate of Pay: £13.97- £18.08 per hour
Summary:
The London Borough of Waltham Forest is seeking a dedicated and experienced Cook to provide vital catering support at The Hive, our environmental education centre located in the heart of Epping Forest. This is a short-term placement designed to bridge the gap between service providers, ensuring that school pupils on residential trips continue to receive healthy, nutritious meals.
Responsibilities:
1.
* Ensure all meals are healthy, nutritious, and appealing to school-aged children.
* Maintain rigorous food safety and hygiene standards in line with legislative requirements.
* Ensure minimal food waste through effective portion control and stock rotation
* Manage food stock levels, handle ingredient supplies, and coordinate deliveries.
* Operate flexibly within a remote, forest-based environment, adhering to the centres specific health and safety protocols.
* Strictly manage dietary requirements and allergen information to ensure the safety of all pupils.
Qualifications:
* GCSE English and Maths (Grade C/4 or equivalent).
* Food Hygiene Level 2: Current certification is essential.
Essentials:
* Proven experience in a catering role within an education, residential, or care-based setting.
* Demonstrated ability to prepare and serve meals for large groups (approx. 60 covers) simultaneously.
* Experience working as a sole cook or in a small team where proactivity and independent problem-solving are required.

* This role requires an Enhanced DBS
