As we transition from our commodity chemicals history towards a higher-end, regulated food and pharma ingredients business, this role will be key to the success of this exciting transition.
As the guardian of the customer, in the role of Senior Quality Manager you'll shape and drive our Quality Management System (QMS), ensuring it not only meets but exceeds expectations. From maintaining accreditations to leading audits and driving continuous improvement, this is a hands-on leadership role that blends strategic vision with operational impact. Building strong relationships with key stakeholders across our business is also crucial.
Key Responsibilities
* Manage the QA and laboratories functions, including teams across various sites, ensuring objectives and KPIs of the QMS align with company strategy.
* Engage with all levels of the business, including the Board, and provide regular reports on quality trends and challenges.
* Manage budgets and cost centres related to quality assurance, control, testing, and compliance.
* Lead the Quality aspects of NPD and R&D plans, coordinate the TCE quality audit programme, and manage external audits (TCL corporate, regulatory, customer).
* Respond to audit reports, implement CAPAs, and ensure timely closure of actions.
* Ensure laboratory activities meet statutory, business, and customer requirements, including safety standards and product specifications.
* Provide guidance and training on QA, QC, and compliance to internal stakeholders.
* Lead investigations into quality-critical events such as complaints, deviations, recalls, and audit findings.
* Develop KPIs and systems to monitor and improve quality performance.
* Stay up-to-date with legislation and ensure compliance across operations.
* Contribute to customer and supplier onboarding and audit processes.
* Present QMS data to stakeholders for external audits and governance.
Person Specification
We seek an engaging, personable leader who is confident, solution-focused, and capable of delivering both positive and challenging messages. The ideal candidate will have proven leadership in quality and laboratory management across multiple manufacturing sites, with experience in the Food and Pharma sectors. Knowledge of standards like
GMP (ICHQ7), BRC, ISO 22000, Halal, Kosher, UFAS
, and familiarity with
ISO 9001
and
ISO 45001
are essential. Hands-on experience with external audits, certification bodies, and quality systems is required. Strong data analysis and IT skills, with the ability to communicate at board level, are important. HACCP & GMP experience is essential, along with certification as an external auditor. Knowledge of
ISO 14001
and
ISO 17025
would be advantageous.
