Contract Length: 4-month initial contract (with scope to extend)
Work Location: Hybrid – London & Birmingham (1 to 2 days a week)
We are looking for an experienced Data Architect to support the technical delivery of a large-scale infrastructure programme. This role will take ownership of enterprise data modelling, Azure SQL optimisation, and the implementation of database releases within a structured delivery environment.
This is a hands-on contract position requiring deep Azure expertise, strong architectural documentation capability, and the ability to work effectively across cross-functional delivery teams.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead development, peer review and approval of Data Models as part of Low-Level Design (LLD)
* Support Scope BoE Database Release 4 and 5 deliverables
* Review and assess existing Azure SQL data models and schema structures
* Provide recommendations for optimisation, indexing, performance tuning and security enhancements
* Support implementation of refined data models using live production datasets
* Contribute to release documentation and artefact development
* Provide input into Test Strategy, Test Plans and Test Scripts
* Support productionisation of new services and functionality
* Produce high-quality architectural documentation aligned to programme standards
Required Skills and Experience
* Advanced expertise in Azure SQL, including design, optimisation, indexing, performance tuning and security
* Strong experience with Azure Blob Storage, including configuration, access control and security patterns
* Proven experience designing data solutions supporting Power Apps and .NET applications
* Strong understanding of Azure architecture, including identity and access management, monitoring and observability, and governance controls
* Experience working within structured delivery and governance environments
* Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills
* Experience working within large-scale public sector or infrastructure programmes
* Experience contributing to structured test documentation and release governance processes
