Employment Lawyer - Exeter - 3-5 Years PQE. Location: Exeter (with hybrid flexibility after probation). Type of Role: Permanent, Full time (part time applications considered). Salary: £50,000 to £70,000 (dependent on experience).
A well established and rapidly growing South West law firm is seeking an Employment Lawyer to join its expanding Litigation Department in Exeter. This is an excellent opportunity for a Solicitor or CILEX Lawyer (with full practising rights) with 3-5 years' post qualification experience to take ownership of their own caseload and play a key role in developing the firm's employment offering. The Litigation Department handles a wide range of civil litigation matters and comprises a team of ten fee earners supported by experienced staff. The firm has seen significant growth in recent years, with new offices, partner promotions and industry recognition, creating a positive and ambitious working environment.
The Role
You will be responsible for developing and managing a growing employment law caseload, including:
* Advising on a full range of contentious and non-contentious employment matters
* Handling tribunal claims, settlement negotiations and employee relations issues
* Providing strategic advice to employers and employees
* Taking responsibility for business development to grow the employment practice
* Working closely with colleagues across the wider Litigation team
* Spending at least three days per week in the Exeter office, with hybrid working available after probation
* Travelling to other offices for client meetings and marketing events as required
* Contributing to the firm�s marketing and business development initiatives
This is a growth area for the firm, and you will have the autonomy to shape and expand the employment offering using your own initiative.
Candidate Requirements
This role is suited to an employment specialist with:
* 3-5 years PQE (more experienced candidates considered if open to broadening into wider litigation)
* Strong technical knowledge of employment law
* Ability to manage a caseload independently and take ownership of client matters
* A proactive approach to business development and client relationship building
* Strong communication skills and commercial awareness
* Confidence generating new work and developing referral networks
* Willingness to contribute ideas and drive the growth of the employment practice
* A positive, collaborative and professional approach
Candidates with a proven track record in business development or an existing client following are particularly encouraged to apply.
