This Data Architect position reports to the Director of EA and will have significant input as to the direction of Data Architecture in the business. Your primary purpose is the:
* Development of data architecture strategies that support the business objectives.
* Definition of data architecture standards and govern their implementation
* Capturing data architectures to support decision making and solution development
* Leading / supporting development of solutions
* The Development of best practice-based data architecture capability to align with organisational strategy and objectives.
Your responsibilities will include
* Development of data strategies and their implementation
* Work within the Enterprise Architecture team to identify and scope future enterprise architectural plans and strategies
* Design, develop and maintain conceptual, logical, and physical data models.
* Ensure that data models support performance, scalability, and data integrity requirements
* Evaluate and recommend database technologies, considering factors such as performance, scalability, and cost.
* Oversee the installation, configuration, and maintenance of database management systems Develop data standards and govern their application within the Enterprise.
* making and solution development. Lead and support solution development.
* Work in partnership with the Data Governance team and Data Stewards in:
* Assuring the application and maintenance of cross- departmental data designs
* Maintaining, publishing and governing all enterprise data artefacts in a single, secure, version-controlled document repository, including all data standards, models, principles, policies and processes
* Work closely with a range of technical and non-technical teams, including developers, analysts, and business stakeholders, to understand their data needs, including those related to analytics, digital products and CRM systems.
* Provide advice / guidance on data usage and exploitation.
* Aid in the development of sound business cases to drive continuous improvement of data assets; celebrate and publicise the delivery of these business benefits
In terms of your background as a Data Architect the requirements are:
* Experience in data management and utilisation of structured, semi-structured and unstructured data.
* Comprehensive knowledge of design for data management including service, applications and infrastructure.
* Demonstrable knowledge in data modelling including use of common languages (for example UML, Archimate).
* Proficiency in database management systems (e.g., SQL Server, Oracle, MySQL, etc.)
* Understanding of CRM systems and
* Strong negotiation and problem-solving skills
* Maintains awareness of industry trends including new approaches/best practices
* Excellent team player both within IT and the wider business
* Excellent communicator with the ability to constructively influence at all levels across the organisation
* Change agent – identifying and introducing companywide changes to deliver tangible benefits
* Strategic thinker whilst also capable of delivering practical, innovative, and value-adding solutions to issues identified
