Protocol Education is currently recruiting for Learning Mentors to work with children with social, emotional, mental health (SEMH) and SEND needs in a school in BS34.
The School
The school is a Primary School that also provides alternative provision for students with SEND and SEMH who cannot access mainstream education for various reasons. Your role will include supporting students' SEMH and SEND needs, well-being, and academic abilities within a structured and adapted curriculum. Most students have Educational Health Care Plans (EHCPs). As a support worker, you will collaborate with students to help them achieve their targets and facilitate purposeful, engaging activities and lessons tailored to each student's needs.
Candidate Profile
The school is looking for candidates with previous school experience or roles such as support worker, youth worker, teaching assistant, carer, intervention tutor, or those from backgrounds like ex-army, ex-prison officer, ex-counsellor, or sports coach.

Responsibilities
1. Work closely with staff, especially teachers, to support students' EHCPs and individual needs both academically and socially.
2. Plan and deliver interventions alongside teachers.
3. Support behavior management to maintain a positive and constructive environment.
4. Candidate must be able to drive, as there will be collection and drop-offs (mileage covered).
5. De-escalate classroom situations appropriately, ensuring safeguarding procedures are followed.
6. Report safeguarding concerns according to school policies.
