Job Description
Job Summary:
The role of the crane slinger is to connect lifting accessories to the hook of lifting equipment. They are then expected to provide instructions in the form of signals or verbal communication to the crane operator while guiding a traveling load from the lifting point to the landing point, or a part of the total distance required.
Area of Work
Key Responsibilities for role
1. Communicating with drivers and plant operators verbally and by radio and/or industry standard hand signals
2. Providing clear, correct, and safe directions to plant operators
3. Check all relevant accessories for damage before work begins
4. Select appropriate lifting equipment and attach and detach it correctly and safely
5. Use clear signals or radio communication to direct the actions of a crane
6. Movement of loads of various weights and dimensions
7. Determine the serviceability of lifting accessories and maintain and store them correctly
8. Work within the confines of a lifting plan created by an appointed person
9. Understanding risks (, blind spots) and how to manage these effectively
10. Establish weights and dimensions of loads
11. Always ensure compliance with company safety procedures
Essential:
12. CPCS blue card or equivalent
Desirable:
13. Counterbalance forklift license above 7 ton
14. Telescopic forklift license
15. training
16. Radio experience/training
17. Manual handling training

19. Ability to work under pressure with minimal supervision and to tight deadlines
20. Build good working relationships
Qualifications

21. CPCS blue card or equivalent
