Job Description: Manual Labour in Christmas tree plantations and/or our Ground Maintenance business. Skills Required: Applicants must have worked on farms or in forestry before and be physically fit & strong. The work is tough, so a high level of fitness is required. Professional Foresters, Farmers or Builders and Landscapers are preferred. A basic level of spoken English is helpful. Location: Over Williamston Farm, West Calder, West Lothian, Scotland, EH55 8RQ. Please note, the farm is 3 miles outside the nearest town. Employment Status: All new employees start on a fixed term contract ending mid-December 2025. This might be extended to permanent employment after the fixed term expires, if both the Employer & Employee want it to. Hours & Pay: The normal working day is 7.30am-4:30pm with 2 x ½ hour unpaid breaks (8 hours per day), 5 days a week. Overtime is usually available if the employee wants it. Overtime is paid 1.25 x the basic hourly rate. You should be prepared to work in all weather conditions. Starting rate is £12.75 per hour. This will be reviewed as a person’s skill level dictates. There are permanent positions and good career opportunities for the right people. An additional discretionary bonus of 50 pence per hour worked may be paid at the end of the contract if the employee has completed the whole of the tree harvesting period to a satisfactory level. Trial Period: All new staff start on a probationary basis. If their work is unsatisfactory, we will cancel our contract with them. Health & Safety: All staff need to abide by rigidly to our Health & Safety Policy. Before starting work for us, you will be required to complete all the necessary Health & Safety paperwork & training, if necessary. Accommodation: Self-catering accommodation can be provided on site if required, at a cost of £60 per week. This is basic accommodation in Static Caravans, and you may be expected to share room with 2 other people. No bed linen is provided; you are required to bring your own with you.
