About NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde

The Role
An experienced and motivated Quality Manager will join the Scottish Microbiology Reference Laboratory (SMiRL) and the West of Scotland Specialist Virology Centre (WoSSVC) at Glasgow Royal Infirmary. The role is within state‑of‑the-art laboratories that employ advanced diagnostic and molecular platforms and are fully UKAS accredited to ISO 15189 standards.
Duration, Location, and Working Pattern
* Location: Glasgow Royal Infirmary
* Working days: Monday to Friday
* No evening or weekend work required
Key Responsibilities
* Ensure the Quality Management System (QMS) is implemented, maintained and continuously improved across both services under the direction of the Quality, Point of Care and Training Manager.
* Oversee the scheduled and unscheduled audit programme, investigate and manage non‑conformances, and ensure corrective and preventative actions are implemented and monitored for effectiveness.
* Report on the functioning and effectiveness of the QMS and perform or supervise internal audits in line with UKAS accreditation requirements, supporting ongoing compliance with ISO 15189.
* Apply consistent quality standards and processes throughout the organisation and support effective governance in line with service and organisational objectives.
* Work collaboratively with senior management to embed quality systems and best practice and provide leadership and assurance on quality performance across services.
Knowledge, Training, Qualifications and Experience Required
* Registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) as a Biomedical Scientist.
* MSc in Biomedical Science, Fellowship of the IBMS (FIBMS) or equivalent qualification.
* Experience working within a UKAS‑accredited laboratory environment.
* Demonstrated experience in quality management, audit and governance.
