The Company

Zapmap is the UK’s leading app and digital platform for electric vehicle (EV) drivers, enabling you to charge your EV with confidence. Our mission is to make the EV charging experience simple, wherever you go and, by doing so, accelerate the transition to electric vehicles and zero-carbon mobility.


Zapmap’s platform serves more than 350k monthly active users across its web and mobile products. We also provide research and insight, news and tools to support current (and prospective) EV drivers.

With over 10 years of industry experience and unique data sets, Zapmap offers a range of B2B services including promotion, content, data and market insights.


The Role

This role is crucial to Zapmap’s future plans, and will work closely with the senior leadership to define, communicate and execute upon Zapmap’s People Strategy. The role will ensure we have effective organisational design, a high performance and supportive culture, a highly supportive employee experience, and a rich learning and development environment.


We are looking for a driven, self-starter who is able to work collaboratively with all functions to ensure the success of our growing business. You will be responsible for all aspects of the HR function and have a broad skill-set, being able to create and advocate the right HR policies, define and operationalise effective organisational wide performance management, and build reward and people programs that ensure we can attract, onboard and empower the best talent.


You will report to the CEO and be responsible for people and engagement metrics. This opportunity offers a chance to make a real impact in a values-led organisation that puts people at the heart of everything that it does.


Key Duties and Responsibilities

* Leading Zapmap’s People Strategy: Focusing on culture, talent acquisition, employee experience and performance, with the emphasis on equality, diversity and inclusion and aligning with business goals.
* Organisation Development: Work closely with the senior management team to define the target design of the organisation, sharing best practice, considering outsourcing practices and optimal team structures.
* Business Partnering: Collaborate with stakeholders with the ability to influence and navigate challenging issues with resilience and professionalism.
* Compensation & Benefits: Ensuring compensation and benefit plans remain competitive and desirable for the team. Identifying and maintaining employee benefits through third party providers, including pension governance and records keeping for P11D purposes.
* Performance Management: Develop a performance evaluation framework to grow our best resource; our people. Capturing what is important to the business and the individual’s career ambitions, supporting the growth and future company direction. Support & coach team leaders on performance management skills.
* Learning & Development: Work with business leaders to create clear pathways for our team to grow, ensuring we nurture and develop our best talent using internal and external resources.
* Recruitment: Manage and communicate a recruitment roadmap, driving the recruitment and onboarding process; ensuring that the best possible experience for candidates and new recruits.
* Payroll: Managing the monthly payroll process via a payroll bureau.
* Data Security: Adhere to all policies and procedures related to data protection and security. The security and governance of data is a key responsibility for this role.


Required Experience & Skills

* A strategic thinker and strong storyteller, able to define, communicate and create buy-in to a vision for our employee experience.
* A people-first leader with a passion for growing great cultures, building motivation and excellence.
* Exceptional communications skills, across all levels of the business, including external stakeholders.
* Experience of developing and maintaining performance management frameworks that drive and leverage a continuous feedback culture.
* Strong operational and execution skills; a doer as well as the ability to work strategically.
* Thorough and detail-oriented, with excellent and up-to-date UK employment law knowledge, HR practices, and employee relations.
* Commercially aware of the needs of 50+ person sized business and offer pragmatic HR advice.
* Experience of growing a business internationally.
* Strong experience across change management, engagement, policy design and project work.

In addition to a competitive salary your package includes:

* Circa £60,000 - £70,000 FTE, depending on skills and experience.
