Overview
The London Bowel Cancer Screening Programme Hub (BCSP) is seeking an enthusiastic and dynamic Healthcare Scientist to lead the department’s quality management and deputise for the Hub Manager. The department is UKAS and SQAS accredited and delivers Bowel Cancer Screening across London using automated Faecal Immunochemical Test (FIT) analysis. The role requires a registered HCPC Biomedical Scientist or Clinical Scientist with an IBMS specialist portfolio or MSc and extensive experience in Clinical Biochemistry or Blood Sciences laboratories.
Responsibilities
* Lead the continual improvement of the quality management system and deputise for the Programme Hub Manager.
* Work closely with the Programme Hub Manager and Office Manager to ensure the overall screening operation runs smoothly.
* Lead and support senior staff in the design, implementation and maintenance of the quality management and laboratory systems.
* Implement and maintain UKAS ISO15189 accreditation and other appropriate standards such as Screening Quality Assurance Service (SQAS).
* Maintain HCPC required knowledge, training, professional skills, behaviour and health.
* Provide line management responsibility for a team of staff.
Qualifications
* Registered with the Health Care Professions Council (HCPC) as a Biomedical Scientist or Clinical Scientist.
* IBMS specialist portfolio, MSc or equivalent experience.
* Experience of people management, service management and quality management system activities.
* Extensive experience working in a Clinical Biochemistry or Blood Sciences laboratory.
