The cook is required to cook food, create menus, and help manage the production and delivery of meals to provide for Jordanhill School’s very busy catering service, providing food to over pupils in primary and secondary daily.
This role involves ensuring compliance with legal and government regulations, policies, and procedures associated with current school food regulations – Food and Drink (Scotland) Regulations .
As the role also involves the operation of cooking equipment, good physical health and fitness is paramount due to the nature of the physical demands of the job. The chef forms part of the catering team in school and reports to the catering manager.
Working hours are 32.5 hours a week during the school session (39 weeks), Monday to Friday 7.30am - 2.30pm (negotiable). Working hours may be increased to 35 hours (negotiable).
Occasional variations to normal working hours will be required to accommodate school events in the evenings and some days working in the school holidays be be requested to prepare menus. These will be paid as additional hours and are negotiable.
Rate of Pay
The rate of pay for this role is £14.09 per hour. The salary for this 32.5 position is £21, per annum (full-time equivalent £28,).
