The Ordinary HR Manager, Fixed Term Contract (Nottingham)
Responsibilities
* Lead end-to-end HR support for the Nottingham distribution centre and warehouse operations, ensuring alignment with business goals.
* Act as a trusted HR Business Partner to local leaders, translating business needs into effective people strategies and solutions.
* Provide expert guidance across change management, employee relations, performance management, conflict resolution, and talent development.
* Collaborate with cross‑functional stakeholders (L&D, Talent Acquisition, Compensation) to design and implement tailored local initiatives.
* Ensure full compliance with employment legislation while aligning policies and practices with company vision, values, and global standards.
* Manage complex employee relations matters, including disciplinary actions and terminations, mitigating risk in partnership with senior HR leadership and legal.
* Drive a positive workplace culture by strengthening employee engagement, fostering inclusion, and building strong relationships with warehouse leadership.
* Partner with managers to embed effective performance management practices, including goal setting, talent planning, and accountability frameworks.
* Deliver and support training initiatives on key topics such as employment law, performance management, and leadership capability.
* Identify process gaps and continuously improve HR practices, while staying current on industry trends and evolving employment regulations.
Qualifications and Experience
* Strong HR leadership profile with 5+ years’ experience in Supply Chain/Warehouse environments.
* Relevant HR/IR education (CIPD or equivalent is a plus).
* In-depth knowledge of UK/EU employment legislation, with the ability to apply it effectively in complex, fast‑paced operational settings.
* Proven expertise in managing complex employee relations cases, with strong problem‑solving, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills handled with professionalism and discretion.
* Excellent communication, organisational, and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build trusted relationships and influence at all levels.
* Demonstrated capability in coaching and mentoring, driving change management initiatives, and operating with strong business acumen, autonomy, and attention to detail in high‑pressure environments.
Critical Criteria
* Industry Experience: strong background in Supply Chain, Manufacturing, or Warehouse environments.
* Resilience & Presence: emotional intelligence, sound judgment, and ability to navigate challenges with professionalism and resilience.
* Operational Excellence: attention to detail and disciplined approach to execution.
* On‑Site Commitment: full on‑site presence (5 days per week).
* Engagement Focus: demonstrated success in driving meaningful employee engagement initiatives at the site level.
