Our client, a leading consultancy in the rail sector, is currently seeking a Quality Manager to join their team in London on a fixed term contract.
Key Responsibilities
- Starting from the existing Quality Management System (QMS), develop and update documentation (Manual, processes, procedures and controls) in accordance with contractual requirements, ISO 9001 and other applicable standards (ITIL, ISO/IEC 20000, ISO 27001, ISO 31000, etc).
- Develop and implement a Project Quality Plan and the Quality Audit Schedule to assure QMS implementation.
- Analyse non‑conformances and complaints for trends and root causes, reporting to senior management to enable delivery of preventative solutions.
- Lead, mentor and develop a multidisciplinary Quality Team to ensure regular inspections, audits, controls and reviews are executed, addressing non‑compliance issues promptly.
- Coordinate with project managers, technical leads, operations managers and client representatives.
- Identify quality risks and implement mitigation strategies to minimise impact on service delivery and contractual obligations.
- Provide training and guidance to project teams on quality management best practices, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and high standards.
- Develop a Supplier Quality Plan, reviewing supplier performance data to identify trends, risks and improvement opportunities.
- Lead lessons learned analysis to ensure outcomes are documented, communicated and applied, driving a continuous improvement culture.
- Measure and analyse the cost of poor quality and associated corrective actions.
- Prepare and present regular quality reports to stakeholders, highlighting performance metrics, areas for improvement and progress on quality initiatives.
- Act as the main point of contact with the customer on quality matters, including quality claims, ensuring corrective actions are taken and leading excellence in customer satisfaction.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Quality Assurance or a related discipline.
- Quality management certifications (e.g., IRCA Internal Auditor ISO 9001, ASQ Certified Quality Engineer).
- Experience in Quality Management, ideally in transportation systems, fare collection, IT operations or complex technological projects.
- Experience leading quality teams in operational and technological environments.
- Proven track record in implementing ISO 9001 or similar standards.
- Experience with IT service management frameworks (e.g., ITIL) and back‑office or service desk operations preferred.
- Experience working with UK public‑sector clients, ideally within transport or infrastructure environments.
- Strong knowledge of international and UK quality management standards.
- Strong analytical and structured problem‑solving skills.
