Quality Manager
Location: Site-Based – Major £265m+ Project
Contract: Permanent, Full Time
Hours: 40 per week (Monday–Friday)
engstaff-in are working on behalf of their client, a highly respected main contractor within the construction market, currently delivering one of their most significant projects to date. This £265m+ scheme is in its early stages, with demolition already underway, offering a rare opportunity to join a landmark project from the ground up and play a pivotal role in shaping its success.
With strong pipelines of work and continued investment in people and systems, our client is seeking a driven, motivated Quality Manager who wants to be hands on, visible on site, and instrumental in setting quality standards on a flagship project. This role is ideally suited to someone who thrives in fast paced environments.
The Role
As Quality Manager, you will be a key member of the project leadership team, responsible for embedding a strong quality culture from the earliest stages of construction. Reporting directly to the Project / Production Lead, and working closely with the central business wide quality team, you will have real influence over how quality is planned, implemented, and delivered on site.
This is not a back office role you will be on the ground, working alongside delivery teams, driving standards, solving problems, and ensuring the project is built right first time. The early stage nature of the scheme provides genuine ownership and the chance to leave a lasting mark on a major project.
What You Will Bring
* Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Building Studies, or a related discipline
* HNC/HND in Construction or Engineering (or equivalent experience)
* Valid CSCS Card
* Experience progressing from roles such as Project Engineer, Site Manager, or similar
* A proven background in quality assurance or quality management within construction
* Strong understanding of construction standards, regulations, and technical drawings
* Hands on experience with inspections, audits, and quality control processes
* Excellent communication skills and the confidence to challenge when required
* Sharp attention to detail with a practical, solutions focused mindset
* Ability to perform under pressure in a live site environment
* Familiarity with quality management systems and reporting tools
* CIOB, Six Sigma, or ISO related qualifications (advantageous, not essential)
* A strong work ethic, ambition, and a desire to grow within a leading contractor
Core Responsibilities
* Take ownership of quality management across the project from early works through to completion
* Implement, manage, and continuously improve the project quality management system
* Carry out inspections, audits, and compliance checks across all site activities
* Drive a proactive quality culture across subcontractors and site teams
* Identify quality risks early and work collaboratively to mitigate them
* Manage non-conformances, corrective actions, and close-out processes efficiently
* Provide clear, regular quality reporting to project leadership and central quality teams
* Support the development of robust quality documentation and final handover packs
* Champion continuous improvement and best practice across the project
