DTS International is a leading dental laboratory based in Glasgow's East End, delivering high-quality dental restorations and prosthetics to dental clinics across the UK and internationally. We are currently looking for a reliable, practical, and proactive Handyman to support the maintenance and day-to-day operations of our facilities. The role can be either full-time or part-time (3 or 4 days per week), depending on the successful candidate's availability.
Role Overview:
As our in-house Handyman, you'll be responsible for general repairs, maintenance tasks, and keeping our facilities in excellent condition. The role will also involve occasional driving duties to support our delivery team during holidays or absences, so a full UK driving license is essential.
Key Responsibilities:
* Carry out general building and facilities maintenance (e.g., basic plumbing, joinery, minor electrical work).
* Perform routine inspections and identify maintenance needs before they become issues.
* Support minor refurbishments, installations, and improvements to workspaces.
* Maintain lighting, heating, ventilation, and general safety standards throughout the premises.
* Troubleshoot and support basic equipment maintenance; liaise with external contractors when necessary.
* Assist with internal office/lab moves, including assembly/disassembly of furniture or workstations.
* Drive company vehicles to make deliveries or collections, covering for regular drivers as needed (holiday cover, sickness).
* Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities and vehicle usage.
* Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations at all times.
Required Skills & Experience:
* Proven experience in general maintenance or facilities support.
* Practical knowledge of building repair and maintenance (joinery, plumbing, basic electrics, etc.).
* Strong attention to detail, with a proactive and solution-focused approach.
* Able to work independently and prioritise tasks effectively.
* Full UK driving license (essential) – clean driving record preferred.
* Good communication skills and a collaborative attitude.
* Physically fit and able to carry out manual handling tasks when required.
Desirable (But Not Essential):
* Formal trade qualifications (e.g., City & Guilds, NVQ).
* Experience in manufacturing environment.
* Familiarity with facilities management systems or basic IT for record-keeping.
