The role
As a Senior Oracle APEX Developer, you’ll be at the heart of a major infrastructure programme supporting the UK’s naval capabilities. You’ll join our Digital Solutions Team, where your work will directly impact the safety and readiness of submarines and submariners. This is a unique opportunity to develop innovative software solutions that support through-life engineering for the Royal Navy.
Day-to-day, you’ll lead the design and development of innovative, scalable Oracle APEX solutions for major defence programmes, collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality software that supports national security.
* Leading requirement analysis and designing technical solutions for large-scale defence programmes.
* Developing efficient, scalable software using Oracle APEX and PL/SQL.
* Applying your technical expertise to evaluate and model alternative solutions.
* Driving innovation through reusable code and modern development practices.
* Collaborating with stakeholders across engineering, infrastructure, and defence teams.
This role is full time, 35 hours per week and provides hybrid working arrangements with 2 days in the office/onsite and 3 days working from home.
Essential experience
* Proven experience with Oracle APEX web-based application development.
* Strong skills in server-side PL/SQL coding for data validation and import/export.
* Solid understanding of JavaScript and front-end development.
* A methodical approach to configuration control and software lifecycle management.
* A proactive mindset with a passion for career development and continuous learning.
Qualifications
Essential:
* Relevant degree or equivalent experience in software engineering, computer science, or a related field.
Preferred:
* Oracle certifications or training in APEX development.
Security Clearance
The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
