The role
As a Senior Oracle APEX Developer, you’ll be at the heart of a major infrastructure programme supporting the UK’s naval capabilities. You’ll join our Digital Solutions Team, where your work will directly impact the safety and readiness of submarines and submariners. This is a unique opportunity to develop innovative software solutions that support through-life engineering for the Royal Navy.
Day-to-day, you’ll lead the design and development of innovative, scalable Oracle APEX solutions for major defence programmes, collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality software that supports national security.
1. Leading requirement analysis and designing technical solutions for large-scale defence programmes.
2. Developing efficient, scalable software using Oracle APEX and PL/SQL.
3. Applying your technical expertise to evaluate and model alternative solutions.
4. Driving innovation through reusable code and modern development practices.
5. Collaborating with stakeholders across engineering, infrastructure, and defence teams.
This role is full time, 35 hours per week and provides hybrid working arrangements with 2 days in the office/onsite and 3 days working from home.
Essential experience of the Principal Infrastructure and IT Services Analyst
6. Proven experience with Oracle APEX web-based application development.
7. Strong skills in server-side PL/SQL coding for data validation and import/export.
8. Solid understanding of JavaScript and front-end development.
9. A methodical approach to configuration control and software lifecycle management.
10. A proactive mindset with a passion for career development and continuous learning.
Qualifications for the Principal Infrastructure and IT Services Analyst
Essential:
11. Relevant degree or equivalent experience in software engineering, computer science, or a related field.
Preferred:
12. Oracle certifications or training in APEX development.

The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
