Salary: £17,307 per annum (£20,057 full year equivalent)
Contract Type: Permanent - Term Time 29.5 hours per week

Term Time Contracts
This contract offers full-time hours across 38 weeks of the year, primarily during term time. You will be required to work during academic terms, with some additional duties outside term time as needed. This structure provides a balance between a full-time role and flexibility during non-term periods.
The Opportunity
As a Youth Learning Mentor, you will play a vital role in supporting learners to overcome barriers to success and achieve their full potential. You’ll work closely with course leaders, tutorial mentors, parents, and external agencies to identify at-risk learners and implement strategies that foster engagement, confidence, and personal development.
Joining an experienced team of pastoral staff that are highly committed to ensuring the emotional social academic needs of learners are recognised timely and appropriate interventions are implemented to provide individualised support.
Your responsibilities will include:
•Providing one-to-one and small group support to build self-esteem and resilience.
•Developing activities that promote emotional wellbeing and peer support.
•Assisting with transitions from school to college and between academic years.
•Monitoring attendance and punctuality, implementing interventions where needed.
•Offering pastoral care, advice, and guidance to aid progression.
•Referring learners to appropriate internal and external support services.
•Supporting learners with SEN/D in line with ALS plans.
•Maintaining accurate records and contributing to departmental meetings.
This is a hands-on role where you’ll make a real difference to learners’ lives by helping them stay motivated and succeed.
About You
We’re looking for someone who is passionate about supporting young people and committed to removing barriers to learning. You’ll need personal qualities such as flexibility, creativity, emotional resilience, and the ability to build positive relationships are essential. You must also demonstrate a commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of young people.
This is a non-teaching role that requires the successful candidate to work with small groups delivering therapeutic session these currently involve a boxing club, reading club and art therapy. The staff run a breakfast and lunch club to provide alternate provisions for students who wish to access this.

Required
•Evel 3 Qualification
•GCSE Maths and English (or equivalent Level 2 qualification)
•1 years’ experience of working with young people
•Experience of undertaking pastoral care with young people
•Experience of working with a wide range of stakeholders in an educational or community-based setting
•Ability to prepare high quality support materials
•Understanding of motivational techniques to encourage learning
