What you'll bring to the role
The Power Platform Developer works on software components that form part of a product. You will be involved in designing, running and improving software that meets user needs.
You will lead on extending the platform to its limits while setting the benchmark for robust, reliable and accessible solutions. Setting patterns, templates and standards as an example to others will be a natural output of your work. The scope of your role will touch the wider Home Office and beyond as we aim to act as technical leaders throughout the wider public sector.
You will typically work under the direction of senior colleagues in your team while also leading on your own deliveries and guiding associate developers.
The Power Platform Developer brings a mix of traditional development expertise with advanced experience of the Microsoft Power Platform and Azure. You’ll play a key role in designing, running and improving software that meets user needs. You will lead on extending the platform to its limits while setting the benchmark for robust, reliable and accessible solutions. Areas of development can include:
* Complex Canvas apps
* Power Automate
* Plug-ins
* Logic Apps
* Function Apps
You’ll have a demonstrable passion for power platform development with the following skills or experience in:
* Applying recognised design principles to build advanced Power Platform solutions which are modular, secure, and maintainable while validating designs through prototyping and iteration. (SWDN)
* Proficient in developing using code to extend Power Platform functionality via custom plug-ins and PCF components, writing clean code, and following best practices for collaborative development and CI/CD workflows. (PROG)
* Creating and executing automated tests for using tools such as Playwright and Test Studio to ensure quality and performance. (TEST)
* Integrating Power Platform services with 3rd party systems securely and efficiently, and contributing to build and deployment automation through CI/CD pipelines (SINT)
* Using secure modern database systems using at least one of Dataverse, MySQL, NoSQL, SQL Server, or PostgreSQL. (Data Management – DATM)
* Taking ownership of issues and incidents in live services and following agreed practices to deliver service updates (ASUP)
