About the role
To manage an effective Quality team and to support Balfour Beatty in Scotland to deliver our projects in accordance with customer and stakeholder requirements and commitments, including verification activities to demonstrate full compliance with Balfour Beatty, client and legislative requirements.
To manage the co-ordination, submission, compliance and management of all assurance activities and the resolution of assurance related issues, and ensure implementation of quality management procedures.
To develop, maintain and deliver the Quality strategy ensuring that the highest levels of assurance to support our operational teams, raising the profile of Quality.
What you'll be doing
1. Implement the Quality Assurance & Control Strategy under the direction of the Head of Quality
2. Ensure a robust Quality management system is in place and maintain all processes and procedures required for quality delivery in the region.
3. Provide training on the management system and quality awareness and development assistance to the wider regional team
4. Provide all suitably qualified and experienced quality resource to the region as required to support the safe, on time and on budget delivery.
5. Ensure the right people, with right skills and experience at the right time to optimise overall regional performance considering both technical and behavioural competence
6. Support the Head of Quality in assigning roles and responsibilities for all quality personnel aligned to the wider regional organisation
7. Support the Head of Quality in ensuring the quality resource implications of the schedule are clearly understood with a plan in place to provide suitable resource at the right time, including succession planning & development of quality talent
8. Support the Head of Quality in identifying future resourcing needs and ensure that training plans and succession are aligned to the regional requirements
9. Feed into the preparation and implementation of the regional Audit Schedule
10. Conduct audits of project activities and subcontractor operations, both on and off site, in accordance with the regional Audit Schedule
11. Support the assessment of Supply Chain partners prior and during project delivery
12. Ensure robust, transparent & credible information is in place to provide an accurate understanding of quality performance across the region
13. Assist with resolution of any quality-related issues arising and make informed decisions on their resolution
14. Share learning and best practice across the quality function, incorporate learning from Balfour Beatty and other key stakeholders, and capture lessons learned to support innovation and promote continual improvement across the region
15. Manage timely handover of records, including establish the handover Strategy
16. Support the Head of Quality in establishing appropriate Key Performance Indicators and work towards meeting them consistently
17. Support the delivery of Regional Strategic Objectives
18. Be a role model, and hold self and others accountable for the behaviours, processes approach that support collaborative working across the Region
19. Build relationships with clients and suppliers to ensure that the collaborative culture and standards established are effectively deployed and extended within the quality team
20. Work collaboratively with other disciplines to ensure procurement aspects of regional delivery meet agreed timescales
21. ctively participate and support the high-performance Leadership Team

Who we're looking for
The following qualities/experience are essential:
25. Prior Quality experience and/or relevant operational / technical experience to meet industry sector demands
26. Experience in leading and managing teams
27. Level 4+ Qualification in Quality, Construction or Manufacturing (relevant industry)
28. MCQI registered or working towards it
29. Knowledge of ISO9000 Terminology
30. ISO9001 Lead Auditor
31. Awareness of Root Cause Analysis principles and techniques
32. KPI development and Performance Reviews
33. Understanding of handover of works
34. Understanding of Change Management
35. Fully proficient in modern office computer systems and technology e.g. Office 365
36. Awareness and understanding of quality and/or technical standards
37. Awareness on Information Management
38. Pays attention to detail and sees things through to completion
39. Good time management
40. Has an ability to gather, analyse and evaluate facts
41. Can deliver reports orally and written in an objective and persuasive manner
42. Has good interpersonal and communication skills
43. Is a self-starter who manages their own time and seeks to add value to their function
