Summary
We are seeking an experienced Site Manager for a new substation project at Wylfa, specialising in high voltage electrical infrastructure up to 132kV. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the full project life cycle, from initial site setup through to completion, ensuring all works are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. This role requires strong leadership and coordination skills to manage multidisciplinary teams, subcontractors, and stakeholders effectively. The Site Manager will oversee compliance with all relevant health, safety, environmental, and contractual requirements, including CDM regulations, and will maintain accurate site records and reporting. Experience in delivering complex substation projects, including civils and electrical works, is essential, with a focus on high voltage environments and temporary works management.
Skills
Proven experience managing substation projects up to 132kV
Full project life cycle delivery expertise
Strong knowledge of health, safety, and environmental regulations (including CDM)
Ability to interpret and manage contract documentation, drawings, and specifications
Experience in managing multidisciplinary site teams and subcontractors
Competence in temporary works supervision and risk management
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
Strong organisational and record-keeping abilities
Ability to manage budgets, schedules, and project progress reporting
Leadership skills to foster a positive safety culture and ensure compliance
Certifications & Standards
SMSTS (Site Management Safety Training Scheme) – essential
Temporary Works Supervisor/Coordinator – desirable
IOSH or equivalent health and safety certification
Relevant substation safety competencies aligned with industry safety rules (e.g., Safety Rules 5th Edition)
CSCS card or equivalent site access certification
