We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Nursery Cook to join our team - Monday–Friday, 10:00am–1:15pm.
The ideal candidate will be responsible for preparing nutritious meals for children in a nursery setting, ensuring all food safety standards are met. This role offers an opportunity to contribute to the well-being and development of young children through healthy and appealing meals. The Nursery Cook will work in a warm, organised environment focused on providing high-quality care and nutrition.
Responsibilities
-Prepare and cook a variety of nutritious meals suitable for children, following dietary guidelines and menu plans
-Ensure all food is prepared in accordance with food safety standards and hygiene regulations
-Assist in planning weekly menus that cater to different dietary requirements and preferences
-Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen area, including washing dishes, sanitising surfaces, and storing ingredients properly
-Monitor stock levels and notify management when supplies need replenishing
-Collaborate with nursery staff to coordinate meal times and ensure smooth service delivery
-Follow health and safety procedures at all times to prevent accidents or contamination
-Keep accurate records of food preparation, storage, and disposal processes
-Proven experience in food preparation or cooking, preferably within a childcare or nursery environment
-Knowledge of food safety regulations and best practices in kitchen hygiene
-Experience with meal preparation for children, including understanding of special dietary needs
-Good organisational skills with the ability to manage time effectively during busy periods
-Previous experience working in a restaurant or catering setting is desirable but not essential
-Ability to work as part of a team and communicate effectively with colleagues and parents
