Overview
Our client, a leading student-focused organisation within the higher education sector, is seeking an experienced Deputy Catering Manager to oversee the daily operations and strategic planning of multiple food outlets on campus.
This is a hands-on role that combines operational leadership with strategic input, ensuring the catering service consistently delivers high-quality food, excellent customer experiences, and strong financial performance across a dynamic, student-centered environment.
Responsibilities
* Lead the day-to-day management of catering outlets, ensuring smooth operations and adherence to quality, hygiene, and service standards.
* Supervise and support a team of catering supervisors, catering assistants, and student staff, fostering a positive and productive team culture.
* Plan and execute menus, termly initiatives, and food promotions aligned with student preferences and current food trends.
* Oversee stock control, food safety, and compliance with all health and safety regulations.
* Manage outlet budgets, monitor profit and loss, and identify opportunities for operational improvements.
* Collaborate closely with senior management to enhance the catering offer and customer experience.
Requirements
* Proven experience in catering, hospitality, or food and beverage management at a supervisory or managerial level.
* Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and develop a diverse team.
* In-depth understanding of food hygiene, safety standards, and relevant legislation.
* Experience in stock management and cost control.
* Excellent communication, organisational, and IT skills (experience using digital ordering systems preferred).
* Adaptability and a proactive approach in a fast-paced, customer-focused setting.
* Salary range: £27,012 – £29,049 per annum.
* Generous holiday allowance: 24 days annual leave plus 8 closure days and 8 bank holidays (option to purchase up to one additional week).
